# Versioning policy

`clai` uses semantic versioning (`vMAJOR.MINOR.PATCH`) for binary releases and Go module tags.

## Configuration compatibility

When `clai` introduces new fields in `textConfig.json`, `photoConfig.json`, `videoConfig.json`, or `profiles/*.json`, existing configuration files are migrated or populated with safe defaults automatically on startup.

## Documentation versions

The `clai.chat` documentation site tracks the latest `clai` release at `/docs/` and preserves archived snapshots under `/docs/v<major.minor>/`. Every page records the exact `baalimago/clai` git commit and source files it was written from in its frontmatter.
