`clai` stores conversation threads as JSON under `~/.config/clai/conversations/` so you can resume, branch, or inspect any chat from the terminal.

## Replying and continuing threads

- **`-r` (`-reply`):** Prepends the previous query response to your next prompt.
- **`-c` (`-continue`):** Continues the active conversation thread for your current working directory (or the global conversation when paired with `-cg`).

```sh
clai q "Design a PostgreSQL table for webhook deliveries"
clai -c q "Add an index for pending retries and show the migration SQL"
```

## Managing saved conversations

Use `clai chat` (shorthand `c`) to list, continue, or delete saved conversations:

```sh
clai chat list
clai chat continue 0
clai chat delete 0
```

## Importing transcripts from external coding agents

`clai` can discover and continue conversation transcripts created by other coding agents on your machine, including:

- **Claude Code** and **Codex** (`claudex` transcript sources)
- **OpenCode**
- **Gemini CLI**
- **Qwen**
- **Antigravity**

Run `clai chat list` or `clai chat continue` to browse local and external conversations, import a thread into `clai`, and continue it with any configured model vendor. See [Multi-vendor transcripts](/docs/concepts/multi-vendor-transcripts/) for how transcript normalization works.
